Does any one know the best pellet in .177 caliber to hunt squirrel, and rabbit hunting?

';best pellet in .177 caliber to hunt squirrel and rabbit'; %26gt;That would be the .177 pellet that your air gun shoots the most accurately. %26gt;Air guns tend to be very particular as to the weight and shape of the pellet they shoot best.

RWS %26amp; Beeman both are high quality pellets.

If your muzzle velocity is good any style pellet is good.

My Gamo is over 1000 fps and is 177, any thing 800 fps and up the pellet design really don鈥檛 matter that much.

I have a scope mounted on my Gamo to get best accuracy, and all pellets leave exit wounds on the squirrel chest hit.

I use to buy the more expensive pellets, but found that it was not needed with that kind of muzzle velocity.

I use a 177 to kill squirrels with a single body hit, and have never had one get away yet, as to rabbits their too easy to kill with a 177.

Squirrels and rabbits don鈥檛 play in my yard any more, that 177 put them in the freezer.

all these guys are morons. NO you do not NEED a rifle that shoots 1000 fps. YES you can kill squirrels and rabbits with .177. Accuracy is always a must so if you can't pop a bottle cap at 30ft. or further why try? here are a couple pages full of pellets, which explain what they do and why. I've had best luck with round tips and those crosman destroyers on rabbits, hollow points like the beeman magnums work best for squirrel. my old man always made me pay a buck for every squirrel or rabbit not shot in the head so....aim small miss small.
man thats not cool.....
the most accurate heaviest expanding pellet

Well, good luck taking down a larger squirrel or rabbit with a .177. It would have to be a head shot for a kill. You may want to move up to a .20, .22 or even a .25.

Gamo or Beeman makes probably the best pellets, as well as airguns, around. check out these sites:

Gamo Raptor PBA pellets. They are made of a special alloy that will not turn to mush on impact. They increase acceleration by 25% and penetration by 50%

To take squirrels and rabbits you need a air rifle with a stock rating of 1000fps or higher. Combined with the pba pellets it will be deadly with either a head shot or well placed body shot.
They are all gonna be about the same.
It all depends on how far you plan on shooting. Usually, you can get pellets that are made for hunting. They usually have a point of some sort, but do not look for something like a actual cartridge bullt. With the correct practice and expirementation, you can determine what pellet works best. I do not recommend practice on live animals, as that might be considered cruel. If you're looking for accuracy, buy several different brands, shapes and types. Then either go to the local range with a target (preferably one with increments so you can adjust your sights, whether iron or telescopic, accordingly) and experiment with shot. Use a log sheet to record the data. Record weather conditions, mainly the wind. If you want to get really indept, you can adjust for humidity and temperature, but if you're going after rabbits and squirrel, that won't really matter.

Anyway, compare your data when you're done. It really shouldn't take long, an hour at most. Then pick the one that preforms the best. The reason I think you should compare different types and brands is that everyone is different. A bullet that works in my rifle might not work in my brother's rifle, even though the rifle is the same brand, type and caliber. Everyone sights a gun different and holds it different. Hope you find some use out of this.
