Can you keep a squirrel for a pet?

Some people have some, but you shouldn't take a wild animal in as a pet. It could have diseases and become unhappy because it doesn't like a pet's life. But if you do decide to take one, take a very young squirrel, a bit after it has been weaned. Can you keep a squirrel for a pet?
no the belong in the wild. Can you keep a squirrel for a pet?
Sure. They'll be pretty hard to buy though. You won't find them in local petshops.... Try searching the internet for squirrel breeders.
Normally only if they are very young when you find them. If they are young enough, then yes they make wonderful pets. However, realize right away that a squirrel is not a gold fish. They require endless hours of attention, love, and play. Squirrels are very affectionate and very playful animals. They are EXTREMELY high maintenance. Be prepared for that up front. If you have found a squirrel and don't feel like you are prepared to deal with it, look for a squirrel rehaber. You should be able to find one online or get a recommendation from a local vet if you call around to a few.
Umm...I don't think that would be a good idea because squirrels catch diseases a lot and the diseases can kill you and also it wouldn't be very easy to take care of because they are wild.

But if you really feel you can handle a squirrel and can keep it inside then maybe it would be OK if you do get one...good luck!

also you might have to get like a permit because they are illegal in most states.
u can if u wanna
i dont think so unless itsa hurt just cause its wild life
You would probably have to have a license to keep it as a pet because they are not considered a domesticated species.
maybe a baby one. the older ones are too wild.
It's illegal in many states of the U.S. because they're considered wild animals, so you'd need to be a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. They don't do well in captivity and many that are kept illegally as pets end up being euthanized because they would not be able to survive in nature. Don't do it.
NO!!!! You could get rabies or another deadly diseases
Yes you can, I found one that fell out of a tree, he was only a few days old, he is now 2 months old. he is a joy, the only trouble we have is he thinks my husand is a tree!! he scratches him up and I wish we had a way to cut his claws, if you find out how please let us know! He is loving and if you have one just show it aot of attention, and they want become wild. We love our Rascal!
You cannot keep squirrels legally in most states without a permit. But if you do they are not a good pet. They will bite even when raised from a baby.
