I just hung a squirrel corn feeder in my back yard. Do they eat the whole cob or just the corn?

They eat just the grains, but they will try to carry away the whole ear!I just hung a squirrel corn feeder in my back yard. Do they eat the whole cob or just the corn?
I have a squirrel feeder as well. It is really neat to watch them because they actually eat the inside of the kernel and throw down the shell. I guess the birds appreciate it! If you feed them regularly and then forget for a couple of days, the will start chewing on your

feeder (if wooden).

Just the corn, waterhead. They wipe their hiney on the cob, back scratch.
they don't eat the cob. they love seeds too
Just the corn. They also make a large square block made of corn and sunflower you can use on the same feeder. I think it is called a squirrel cake. They last a long time and the Blue Jays like them too.
both ways are fine.
corn kernals
Just the corn kernels. You can get the same effect by growing sunflowers too - they love the seeds.
