Most of the time it is just because it smells ';tasty'; (to them).You can try putting tabasco sauce on the piles, but honestly, if you are right there, the best solution is just to pick it up right away.

This is pretty natural for all breeds of dogs as many have an attraction to all kinds of droppings. However, eating squirrel droppings can be bad due to the diseases that they carry. Talk to your veterinarian about what you can do to discourage your dog. If the dog is out in the yard where squirrels have been, it may be very difficult and you may have to supervise the dog while outside.
eww, squirrel droppings? I don't know maybe it'sjust natural but I heard that in soem ppoor countries stray dogs eat poop. So I guess it's okay but u should consult a vet or something.
