Squirrel deterrents?

My wife is getting so aggrevated by the squirrels digging in her flower pots and containers. We have tried moth balls and several commercial squirrel deterrents, but they just push them aside and continue to dig up her new plantings - help!!!!Squirrel deterrents?
Buy a squirrel feeder and feed them. They are fun to watch. Make it challenging for them to get the food.Squirrel deterrents?
I had the same problem. I ended up buying the Hav-a-Hart live traps. If you bait them with acorns or nuts you can collect about a squirrel per day. When they are in the trap you drive them about three miles away and then tip the trap over to unlatch it and watch them run to their new home (which is not your home).
You need to get a beagle dog, they are great hunters.
Get your self a ' live trap ', bait it with sun flower seeds in a small cover off something, putting that in the far end, so he has to trip the pedal he steps on to reach the seeds. Then, relocate the rotten thing ! There were a lot of them around our area when we moved in, including racoons. I bought a trap big enough for them . Now they are '; relocated'; as well ! It really works !
You could tie your dog up to that plant box on stake'em out in the garden. But if he takes a nap or becomes friends with the Squirrel then you've lost again. Or you could put up a low electric fence around your garden but if the pesky little critters come in thru the trees that won't do you no good.
I'd get a golden retrever. I had one when I was a kid and it was always bring dead things to my parents.
Go to your local garden store, buy some animal repellent. Most work very well on squirrels.
you can get a dog. my dog didn't help, but people say they do. the only effective cure for squirrels is to trap them and take them far away. this will be an ongoing process, but it works better than anything else i have ever tried. good luck.
