What is up with Kevin and the squirrel?

Seems like the chipmunk was Kevin's inner most self that he needed to deal with in order to move on from his dark past.What is up with Kevin and the squirrel?
It is not unusual for people with mental problems, possibly who are bipolar, I'm not sure of the right term, to hear voices or even see things. Often 'voices' tell people what to do coming from their own heads. They can imagine it is other people or whatever. You hear about that all the time when there are murders and other crimes. Some never commit crimes but have the voices.





The thing is, we'll have to wait to see if he really got out of the ambulance or if it was his imagination (in the last scenes Friday afternoon) . And if he did, in a straight jacket, he could not have opened the ambulance door. But what I don't understand is why they didn't call his brother/lawyer right away. But the attendant had to open it for him.What is up with Kevin and the squirrel?
The squirrel is him in his own head. He is fighting a battle of self, today he unmasks the squirrel and see that it is him, and he comes back too! - I am sooooooo Happy to see Kevin back to normal, and I hope they get him out fo jail soon.
I have read a spoiler that the squirrel thing is really Kevin. So I think the writers are making it look like he is fighting the demons in his head and he is supposed to succeed and end up coming out of the delusional state that he has been in.
He was having hallucinations because when he was kidnapped it sent him back to his childhood and he kept seeing the squirrel that was attacking him and putting him down it represented all his fears from the past with evil Tom and its about him hating himself when the squirrel mask came off it was Kevin fighting with himself because he hates himself self loathing!
The chipmunk is Kevin, apparently he was fighting his own demons. He got all of that resolved today and is back to his old self.
Don't know and I wish they end this dumb storyline in short order. It's dumb and boring to say the least.
