Can 480 fps kill a squirrel?

Im thinking about buying a powerline 15xt. But i need to know if it will be able to kill a squirrel or birds.Can 480 fps kill a squirrel?
i have a 500 fps and have kill 23 birds, 3 squirrels and 2 rabbits, with my friends 425 fps i have kill 9 birds, 1 squirelCan 480 fps kill a squirrel?
If you want to hunt squirrel or birds at least buy something powerful enough to do the job right.





A 480fps BB pistol ';might'; kill a small bird at very close range. Do not shoot a rabbit or squirrel with one.

IMO it takes around 6.0fpe at impact with proper shot placement for a clean, humane kill on small game(rabbit, squirrel).


575fps - 8.2gr pellet = 6.02fpe





The Daisy 880 is only a few $$ more than the 15X, and with proper pellets you can hunt at close range(10-15 yards) with one.





Better would be an air rifle such as the Chinese built Tech Force - 34 (TF34) - for around $55 you get a reasonable powerul .177 or .22 caliber pellet gun





Better yet, if you want to hunt, would be one of the entry level, break barrel springers from Crosman(Phantom, Storm XT, Quest, etc)
only within 50 feet on anything starling size down or squirrel at 25 ft or less but if you want a gun for the same price to shoot squirrels or birds buy a pumpmaster because it shoots a deeper penetrating projectile at higher speeds and for hunting with a pumpmaster use pba ammo only because it penetrates very deep and shoots at a much higher velocity and the light weight helps penetration in low power guns i used my slightly faster powermaster to kill a squirrel at 50 feet using pba ammo instantly and the pumpmaster is only 20 fps less shooting than the powermaster
it can kill it but only if you hit the squirrel or bird in a kill zone. If you shoot it in the foot or somewhere less hazardous it will most likely survive and limp away.
480 fps can kill birds no problem. Squirrels need a head shot definetly. Is your gun .177 cal.?
