Can I BBQ a Squirrel on a Camp Fire?

A few of my buddies are going on a hunting/camping trip and i was wondering if i can just cook squirrel on a stick with bbq sauce or if i need to do something more. we will not have any pots or pans or other ingredients with us. we can take some if small and light. Can I BBQ a Squirrel on a Camp Fire?
I do it all the time when I'm camping. gut it, skin it(don't worry bout a little hair on meat cooking it this way cause the heat will burn it off). Be sure when you gut it not to split the innards and don't split it all the way. leave about one inch at butt hole (remove all intestines) and a couple at the throat. This way you don't have to tie the legs. Be sure to let the flames die out (like a bbq grill). Set the food about 4-8 inches from the coals. ( hold your hand over the coals at a height that start to burn after 3 seconds perfect heat) Cook on both sides, for 15-20 mins then put on bbq sauce for about 3 mins on each side. It's great. rabbits and fish are also good ideasCan I BBQ a Squirrel on a Camp Fire?
There's no problem with what you're suggesting; just skin and prep it as you normally would, place it on a stick over the radiant heat (not the direct flame), and wait until the meat pulls away from the bone.

You might want to check with the local DNR about daily limits though to prevent any problems or more to the point perceptions of problems.

If you can manage the extra weight of carrying a pan - pan fried is more flavorful, and with a little flour and water you can have a great flavored gravy too. If you buy the biscuit mix you can form them into balls and bake them on a stick over the fire as well.

Have a great time.
You would have to bleed it immediately after killing it (slit it's throat).

Then you would have to skin it, being careful not to get hair on the meat. Then you would have to gut it (long cut up belly to remove all organs- don't puncture the large intestine, yuk!). You might as well take the head and tail off while you're at it. After that, spear it and roast it until it's done (i have no idea how long).
yeah squirl on a spit is very good.

there isnt' not a WHOLE lot of meat specially after you

roast it on the fire.. and they are a bit gamey

but other than that it's a good source of protein

just make sure to properly clean it. remove the fur

and all the intestines/ guts

wash out very well

so your do not get sick.

and just stab a stick through it the long way. and tie the feet
NO! Lol. You gotta skin it first, cut out the meat and know that they dont have much meat on them. I would bring some sauces and spices to put on them. Good luck and have fun!
Yes you sure can as my brothers do it quite frequently. They say it is very good too. Take a few potatoes and put them in the corner of the fire. Wrap them with a piece of foil before you leave home.
Of course you can, haven't you seen my show?!
Idk can u?
