Now, can someone tell me why it is doing that weird army crawl? I have NEVER seen a squirrel do that. What does that behavior signify? ThanksI was just watching a squirrel delay the baseball game between the Indians and the White Sox.?

Seriously. His lay-down behavior is to absorb heat off the ground. By spreading out and laying flat on the ';dirt'; portion of the field, he absorbs the heat that that part of the field generates as a result of being hit by sunlight.
Smart, and fearless little guy isn't he? Great and wonderful animals Squirrels are. They add beauty, charm, and laughter to our lives.
